THE BIG ASK

In April, we launched “THE BIG ASK”. An invitation to the Lighthouse family to respond to an increase in our building lease of 40% over the next five years.

Whilst we believe this would have been just about manageable through our conferencing income and the faithful support of our G300 partnership, the landlord decided to backdate the increase by a full year, having missed their original review date of January 2024. The amount was set in November 2024, and after negotiation with them until recently, we wanted to share the outcome with the church.

Fast forward to today, and we need to rapidly raise an amount of finance to offset the increase. “THE BIG ASK” is an appeal for 300 people to give a “one-off” gift/ donation of £300 each. This will raise enough funding to see us through the current year and into 2026 without any adverse effects to our finances.

Already we are near two thirds of the way to achieving our goal, and we will keep “THE BIG ASK” open until we raise the amount we need. There are various ways to pay the £300, though we do ask donors to gift aid their contributions where and whenever possible. (See our website for details on how to do this). Gift aiding our donations gives us an extra 25% on top of the amount given, for just completing the Gift Aid Declaration form.

We also recognise that some people are genuinely not in a position to give £300, but they want to contribute and support the appeal. You can still give via the “THE BIG ASK” appeal, whatever you wish to give.

We thank you all for your support and generosity. Everyone who knows us as a church fairly well, will know and understand we rarely ask for money and funds for our own needs. We do have financial strategies to help us maintain our buildings and our activities outdoes of church giving, however, there are occasions where we need to let all our church family know, when we are faced with the kind of situation we have explained above.
