Financial Breakthroughs, Obtaining Jobs and Winning New Contracts
All scriptures are very useful and profitable but there are some that are very special to us. Genesis 16:13 is one of those for me. I remember how this scripture comforted me as a young widow raising two young children. I would hold on to that scripture so tightly. The background to that scripture is that Hagar was provoking Sarai and Sarai wasn’t too nice to Hagar and Hagar ended up running away from her mistress. However the angel of the Lord appeared to Hagar in the desertand told her to go back to her mistress and submit to her. The angel also said she was pregnant and the Lord was going to increase her descendants so much that they would be too numerous to count.
Hagar then said to the Lord in Genesis 16:13 “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Yes, our God is the God who sees the tears we shed on our pillows at night and hears even the faintest cry we make. He is the God who sees and hears. No matter what we are going through and no matter what our needs are. He cares about all the stuff we are worried about, all the things that keep us awake at night, all the bills we have to pay, the dwindling bank account, the stressful job, the contracts we keep losing, etc.etc. Nothing passes by him. He's a compassionate God who is moved by the challenges we face today.
After John the Baptist was beheaded, Matthew 14:13 says, “Jesus withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.” Imagine Jesus on a boat but the crowd followed him on foot. They were desperate. They needed to see Jesus. They didn't know where he was going but all they knew was to follow him. They might have to walk along way depending on where Jesus was going but they didn't care. All they knew was they needed to see him. They needed a touch from Jesus; they needed healing, they needed some sort of miracle, they needed a job, they needed a financial breakthrough, they were hungry, they were in lack.
Matthew 14:14 said Jesus saw them and had compassion on them. Jesus was moved by their faith and their needs. He healed the sick and provided food for their hunger. He met their physical need whether it was healing their bodies or food for their stomach. He's the God who sees our needs and provides. Just the same way he saw the needs of the crowd that day, he sees our need and has compassion on us. He is a miracle worker and a way maker. He will take the very little that we have and multiply it.
The disciples had to put five loaves and two fish in Jesus’ hands before the miracle happened. So today let's put something in Jesus's hands and see what he will do. Let's put our CVs, our job search, our finances, our interviews, our desires into his hands and see how he will make a way for us. Let's do our part of being careful and living within our means. God will make a way to break through our debt situation. So today let's join with one another and pray for our financial situations. Let’s call the things that are not as though they are and call in the job interviews, call in the job offers, call in those contracts to come. Let’s speak financial breakthroughs, debt cancellations, income above expenses, let’s speak surplus in our bank accounts, let’s speak satisfaction and fulfilment in our jobs. Let’s agree that in 2019, the finances and job situations that cause us frustration will no longer be a cause for hindrance, but we can look back at the end of 2019 and see how our God has provided.
Amen! He is the Lord of breakthroughs, the God of miracles.
Amen
