2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, Even though your outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

Do not lose heart on this fast! Know that as we continue to fast and seek His face we are feeding our Spirit man. Our outward man, our flesh, is dying, but we are building up our inward man, our Spirit.

The more we choose to read the Word, pray or just spend time with God over our fleshly desires we our feeding our Spirit. We know that if we are living according to the flesh it is impossible to please God but those who live according to the Spirit are sons of God.

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die but if by the Spirit you put the flesh to death, you will live.

One of the best things fasting does is it allows God to dig deep into our lives and uproot the things that don't belong. By denying our selves during fasting, we are putting our flesh to death.

Romans 7 shows us that inside we have the flesh man and the Spirit. The more we feed the Spirit the more we kill the flesh. Fasting with prayer allows to kill the flesh and give room to the Spirit. And “those who are led by the Spirit are the children of God.” (Romans 8:14)

Prayer Points:

Pray for those who need physical healing, including those with long term illness, those who are undergoing tests and investigations. Pray for those suffering mental illness, anxiety, depression and fear, and for deliverance from substance addiction.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.

During this time, Solomon was offering a burnt sacrifice in the temple. After he had finished praying, the fire from heaven came down and consumed their sacrifice and the glory of God filled the temple!

At the beginning, God is calling us to turn from our wicked ways, pray and seek His face. The following verse, verse 15 says that because the people of Israel turned from their wicked ways God’s eyes would be open and His ears would be attentive to the people of Israel. Let's pray and seek God's face and offer our lives as a sacrifice so His glory can be revealed in our lives.

Prayer Points:

Pray for the salvation of unsaved loved ones, work colleagues, neighbours and friends, and prodigals to come home. God desires that everyone be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Why not ask God for the salvation of specific people in your life this year. Name them before God every day. Let’s believe for many salvations this year!
